Here is how it works for prospective clients at San Antonio Hypnotherapy Center ! In the initial phone call to our office, you will be asked a few preliminary questions. Why? There are two important questions We need to answer and they are ethical question. First, would you be a good candidate for hypnotherapy? Secondly, is there a better than 50% chance of amelioration, i.e.,of helping you or of improvement.
Regarding the 1st question, most people are good candidates for hypnotherapy, BUT not everyone is. What might make you a poor candidate? Your medication, for example. If your primary care provider has referred you to us, we will need to review any information s/he has provided. Certain medications or certain personal habits might impair your attention span and thus disqualify you for treatment. Earlier life experiences of a violent or traumatic nature might likewise inhibit your ability to participate in hypnotherapy.
There are a few issues for which we might need to refer you to a specialized provider such as a neurologist or psychiatrist, i.e. physical trauma to the brain or nervous system. Substance abuse and drug additions including acute alcoholism do NOT respond well to hypnotherapy intervention. We do NOT offer any such treatments. In addition, hypnotherapy is not indicated for serious psychiatric disorders and severe mental states. Lastly, hypnotherapy is NOT an alternative to theme park entertainment, i.e., Six Flags or Seaworld. We do NOT engage in regressions for previous lifetimes.
While infrequent, we have provided lost and found type psycho-searches in pursuit of lost or misplaced memory or objects. Answering those two questions enables us to avoid wasting a client’s time or money or our reputation.
